kcalAcai smoothie bowls are one of those things you don’t know you’re missing out on until you make them. We love making “special breakfast” on the weekend and acai smoothie bowls are great for that. They’re just so good and fun to make. To make it really easy, we set out to standardize the recipe we found ourselves improvising. It makes three good-sized bowls, enough for a small family. With our family of five, we found ourselves doubling the recipe so we could get some, too.
Ingredients
1ยฝ cups (360 mL) milk of choice
1 packet (100 g/3.5 oz) frozen acai
1 frozen banana
1 cup (150 g) frozen blueberries
1 cup (150 g) frozen strawberries
1 tablespoon flax seed (optional)
Directions
- Add all ingredients to your blender container.
- Insert the tamper through the lid.
- Blend on high for 30 seconds, using the tamper to push ingredients into the blade. Keep the consistency thick – you want it somewhere between a smoothie and frozen dessert.
- Pour into serving bowl.
- Add desired toppings (see suggestions below).
- Enjoy.

Notes
- About Acai
Acai berries are nutrient-dense superfruits from South America known for their high antioxidant, low sugar, and rich nutrient profile. Acai berries have a naturally bitter taste, which is why they’re best combined with other fruits. You’ll typically find them sold as frozen puree packets rather than fresh berries, as they’re difficult to transport fresh, even in Hawaii’s acai bowl shops! - Suggested Toppings
