If you want a Food Processor Attachment-compatible Vitamix with the most straight-forward user experience, go with the Ascent X2. In all our years doing this, the X2 is our favorite to recommend yet.
Using the Ascent X2 is super intuitive because of its all-tactile controls — just two switches and a dial. This design is similar to beloved models from the past like the Pro 750; variable controls on the right to operate manually, programs on the left for walk-away blending.
All Vitamix blenders are loud. But the X2, as part of the Ascent X Series, is less loud than the entry-level models. The Self-Cleaning program is especially less noisy than predecessors.
The X2 comes with what we call the Goldilocks container, the 48-ounce. It’s an ideal size for experimenting with everything from smoothies to hot soups to pesto without committing to large batches.
It’s compatible with the Food Processor Attachments and any any future attachments that require SELF-DETECT (like if Vitamix ever reintroduces the 8-ounce Personal Blending Attachment or does a juicing attachment). So while we recommend only getting what you need right now, it’s a system on which you can build when you’re ready.
The only minor considerations? The tamper holder could be more sturdy. And unlike some models, it doesn’t come with a physical cookbook. But these are small tradeoffs for what is otherwise an exceptionally well-rounded machine that could easily become your kitchen’s most reliable companion for the next decade.

If you want to turn your Vitamix into a 2-in-1 appliance, get the Food Processor Attachment (FPA). It will expand your home chef game with precise slicing, chopping, shredding, and mixing. Where a Vitamix blender elevates your smoothies, soups, and sauces to top-chef quality, the FPA broadens the range of dishes you can try.
In our home, we use the FPA to make plant-based veggie lasagna (including the dairy-free ricota), homemade falafel, and potato-based recipes like hash browns. Folks into special-diet lifestyles like raw, WFPB SOS-free, low FODMAP, etc use it sometimes more than their main blender container.
The only minor concern is that the FPA is only compatible with Ascent (or Venturist) series Vitamix blenders.
The upshot is if you have the time to put it to work today, you’ll love having it as part of your Vitamix kitchen system.
